I am running Ubuntu 15.10. I am using Genymotion version 2.6.0. When I open Genymotion it hangs on the splash screen and shows no progress. Sometimes it stops at user authentication or Loading plugins.
Note : Ubuntu works fine, only Genymotion stalls.
Update 1: Nothing is changed when launching from terminal. Genymotion hangs at Loading plugins screen. No error is thrown.
Update 2: The Genymotion log for the last occurrence is as follows.

The problem was that I wasn't deleting the configuration file. Make sure you do that.

Details: The problem was I wasn't removing the configuration file in $HOME/.config/Genymobile
. You also need to remove $HOME/.Genymobile
folder in your home directory, and yes, the complete installation, normally in the opt/genymobile
folder, or wherever you installed it.
I had the same problem, I fixed it by removing the configuration as @Akash Aggarwal said, but trying to login again returns Unkown gerneric error
, I solve it by starting Virtual Box
Preferences -> Network - > host-only networks -> Edit Virtual Host-Only Ethernet Adapter -> DHCP Server -> uncheck Enable server. This solved my problem.
Yup, delete the .Genymobile
folder from your home
directory and it can run normally. Also if you want not delete your android device before, just do something like this :
- backup that folder (or rename it, eg.
.Genymobile_Lawas
) - open the Application (let the application create a new
.Genymobile
folder) - move the folders named
templates
,deployed
, andvdi
from your backup folder to the new one.
Delete Genymotion.conf.lock and relaunch. Fixed same error but I was using Antergos Linux.

Posted byHey fellow devs, I know you guys heavily recommend GenyMotion over the default Android emulator (and for a good reason), so I just wanted to make sure that you guys are aware of how restrictive their free license actually is.
I looked into their Terms and Conditions, and under the free license section, it states:
This license is granted to the end user only and exclusively in connection with personal use, the end user is an individual, and not a professional, who downloads the application for personal and private needs, excluding commercial and professional environment.
That is quite restrictive and probably won't apply to 90% of even indie devs. I decided to email them (this was a from a few months ago) to make sure:
Me: If you plan on releasing an app with ads or is paid, then you will not fall under the free license, correct?
Them: Yes, you are correct. If you are paid to build apps or earn money with the apps you build, it is not a personal use anymore as our term of use.
But what if the app is in development and not being monetized yet?
Me: Hey, if I am creating an app for commercial purposes but it is currently not being monetized, can I use the free version?
Them: No, if you plan to make money of (sic) your app, personal use version can't be used anymore.
As you can see, their free license is quite restrictive. Don't get me wrong, this isn't some attack on GenyMotion, after my inquiries, they were nice enough to send me a 2 week trial and my experience was that it was a lot faster than the default Android Emulator (even with HAXM). I think that if you are serious about app development, then their paid or indie license is definitely worth it. But if you have a few hobby apps for some beer money, now you know and can make an informed decision.
